Kasumi Iida - Restructuring Women in Engineering

     Kasumi Iida is a structural engineer specializing in earthquake resistant design. Living in Northern California, a region famous for rocking and rolling every time the San Andreas fault zone feels a need to re-adjust itself, she stays busy as a risk management consultatnt performing analyses to estimate potential financial losses from earthquakes and other natural disasters.

     Her background is unique. Born in the U.S.A., she spent her childhood in Turkey, teenage years in Japan and South Korea, and then returned to America for college. After finishing graduate school, she was hired by an American structural/risk consulting company and sent to Japan to start up an office in Tokyo before returning to the San Francisco area working for the same company.
